Do you feel a sense of dread when it’s time to take your child for a dental check up?

Have you ever sat beside your child as they shivered with fear in a dental waiting room? Or chased them around the clinic as they tried to escape?

A dental clinic doesn’t have to be a scary place for children.

Visiting a dentist with a passion for children’s dentistry creates a safe and positive experience, and makes your life a whole lot easier.

How we provide special care for our littlest patients:

Making Dental Care Fun

Going to the dentist doesn’t have to be boring! From our special magic chair, to our kid’s corner in the waiting room, we find plenty of opportunities to sprinkle fun into the visit. We’d love to meet your favourite cuddly toy!

A Child-Centred Approach

It’s important for kids to know we are listening to them and they have control. All they need to do is raise their hand when they need a break. We carefully explain and show what we are doing each step of the way so children know what to expect.

Access the ‘Child Dental Benefit Schedule’

Depending on your eligibility, you may be able to access Government funding for your child’s dental care. Ask our friendly staff if you have any questions about this.

“A year ago, my front teeth were over protruding which is quite a hassle, sometimes it’s painful and awkward while speaking. The treatment went smoothly and great. Issues with speech and awkwardness have gone. I’m happy with the result. It is better than expected. I definitely recommend MDC for a dentist in Box Hill.”

“I am so glad that I finally found a good dentist! Dr Alice Yang was very professional and approachable. I experienced no discomfort at all. I will definitely return for my next check and clean.”

– Yan Xu

Helping Children to Love Visiting the Dentist

Am I eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

The Federal Government wants all children to have access to basic dental care and treatment.

That is why it has developed the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).

    FAQ’s

Why is it important my child visits a dentist with experience in paediatric dentistry?
Visiting a dentist that is experienced at making a child’s check-up fun and positive, will really help your child to love the dentist. It also means you don’t have to feel embarrassed or worry about how your child acts during the dental visit – we love kids and welcome even the most anxious little patients. Our passion is making them feel calm and comfortable.
What can my child expect from their first check up?
Upon arrival at our office, you will be greeted by the friendliest dentist in Box Hill. There are toys to play with in the waiting room. Once it’s time for your check up, your parents are welcome to accompany you into the clinic room where you get to sit in our magic chair! You’ll get some cool sunglasses to wear, and we’ll show you our sparkling light and explain what will be doing each step of the way. We have a tell-show-do policy, so you know exactly what to expect! At the end we’ll give you a fun pack with a brand new toothbrush, and give high-fives all round.
Who is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

Children aged 2-17, who are eligible for medicare, may have access to the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. For more information talk to our friendly staff or visit the Services Australia website.

Why is it important for my child to visit the dentist?

Even with great oral hygiene, it is common for children to have plaque build up and cavities. The earlier this is detected, the easier the treatment will be. Children’s enamel is very sensitive and prone to erosion. We can treat this with sealants to prevent the need for fillings. It’s also a great idea to start visits from a young age to instill in your child an understanding of the importance of dental hygiene.

How can I prepare my child for a dental visit?
The most important thing parents can do is model being calm and positive about the dentist. Rather than saying “Brush your teeth properly or the dentist will pull all your teeth out!”, try instead saying “Let’s brush your teeth well to make sure you have a beautiful smile when you visit the dentist”.

Set your child up for a lifetime of good oral health and a beautiful smile.
