You’ve spent money to make your smile look amazing, so you’ll want to protect it. Here’s how.

Imagine spending money on something nice, then not doing what’s needed to keep it looking as good or working as well as it should. It doesn’t make sense.

Would you do that for a car, a nice watch or another piece of expensive jewellery, a musical instrument, or a tailored suit?

Most people don’t think twice about regular servicing and professional cleaning for their material possessions. They take pride in what they‘ve bought and want to keep those things well maintained so they last as long as possible in near-pristine condition.

Given that major dental work, such as implants, veneers, crowns, and orthodontics, is a significant investment, protecting it should be a no-brainer.

Your smile is more than a ‘nice-to-have’

What’s a great smile really worth? Regardless of how much it might have cost to get implants, porcelain veneers, crowns, or orthodontic work, the real value is measured by the increased confidence and heightened self-esteem that comes from that smile.

The positive impact of a restored smile is felt every day, yet it’s something people rarely quantify – perhaps because there is no easy way to measure it, at least not in dollar terms.

Suffice to say that it’s clearly an investment that many people are willing to make, so if you’ve had major dental work, you can rest assured that most people appreciate that you’ve done something worthwhile.

In other words, it’s not unusual to spend a bit of money on your teeth. So it follows that it should be the norm that you also spend a little – and it really is little compared to the major investment – keeping them looking as good as possible.

Regular check-ups can be crucial

Coming back to Middleborough Dental Care for your regular check-ups might not be the difference between keeping your new smile in tip-top condition and not … but then again, it might be!

When a crown has been fitted to exact tolerances, an implant has been precisely positioned in relation to other teeth, or veneers have been made and put in place to perfectly match your bite, we know exactly what we’ve done and why.

We not only understand every decision that went into the dental work we’ve done for you, but we also know what’s normal for your mouth, and what isn’t. We know where to look and what to look for.

What we’re actually checking

When you come back to us for a regular appointment, we’re not just cleaning your teeth. We’re reviewing your implant margins, checking for any movement or wear on crowns, assessing how your bite has shifted over time, and making sure no small thing is quietly becoming a bigger thing.

Most issues that threaten major dental work are entirely preventable when caught early.

A small amount of gum recession around an implant. Micro-wear on a porcelain surface. A bite that’s shifted slightly post-orthodontics.

None of these is dramatic on its own, however, like any small issue, if left unmonitored, they can become more challenging and more expensive to fix.

Why continuity of care is preferable

Think of it this way: major dental restorations are not self-maintaining. They perform beautifully when monitored and cared for correctly, however, they can deteriorate silently when they’re not given the right attention.

The good news is that maintaining them well is genuinely straightforward. All it takes is two appointments a year. Simply seeing the people who know your specific dental journey once every six months is as good a maintenance and care plan as you can get.

The investment you’ve already made is more than likely a substantial dollar figure. The cost of protecting it is small by comparison.

Perhaps more importantly, the cost of not protecting it is something we’d rather you never have to find out.

If it’s been a while …

We understand that life gets busy, and you’re not the first patient who has let scheduled check-ups slip.

There’s never any judgement from the Middleborough Dental Care team. We’re regular people with family commitments, just like you.

But we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we weren’t providing gentle reminders like this: the sooner you come back in, the better picture we can get.

Whether it’s been six months or two years, there’s no time like the present, and we’d rather see you now than later.

Your smile was worth the investment. Let’s make sure it stays that way.

Join us in celebrating Mother’s Day

May is the month of Mother’s Day, and the Middleborough Dental Care team wants to give all “mums” some extra love all month.

For any mother (or motherly figure) who books an appointment to see us in May, we’re adding a gift of appreciation for all you do.

We think you absolutely deserve a hygiene gift pack and a $50 voucher towards any treatment.

Hopefully, all mothers – and everyone regarded as a motherly figure in our lives – get the pampering they deserve on Mother’s Day … and for those of you who are coming in to see us this month, we hope our small gesture adds to that.
