The holidays are a good time to think about kids’ teeth

How lucky are we to have the festive season over the summer school holidays? Nice weather when we can take a much-needed break and spend some good times with family and friends.

While you’re planning your barbecues and other feasts, your visits to the relatives, and your trips to the beach, don’t forget about us!

That’s because it’s a perfect opportunity to schedule a visit to your friendly family dentist for a check up, particularly if you have more than one child and would prefer to all come together.

*Please note that our clinic will be closed from 1pm on 24th December 2021 and we’ll be back on Monday 10th January 2022.

We really are family-friendly dentists

While six-monthly visits to the dentist might not be everyone’s favourite thing, here at Middleborough Dental Care we do everything we can to make it as painless and stress-free as possible.

All of our staff are conscious that children, in particular, might experience some anxiety about visiting the dentist. It’s all part of being a child: when you’ve got a vivid imagination there’s every chance that you’ll picture things being much worse than they are.

So, while we can’t promise rainbows, butterflies, and unicorns, we can assure you that we’re ready to help anxious children be less anxious. Our new dentist, Dr Ling, has had some lovely feedback from families who have seen their children much less stressed than they had been previously.

Is Christmas a bad time for teeth?

We don’t want to sound like the Grinch, but the festive season does tend to see more people indulging in more sweet foods, lollies, and sugary drinks.

Of course, we always suggest you limit the intake of sweet and sticky foods and drinks, but we understand that those things are out there, and people like them.

So, rather than scolding your children (or you) for eating and drinking the things that are on offer, we encourage you to practise the best possible dental care regimen.

While you are chewing on more sticky and sugary treats, be extra conscious of flossing and brushing carefully and thoroughly. And don’t wait too long before you come to see us.

A check up and a good clean and it’s Happy New Year!

There are a few things we want you to know about coming in to see us.

o   With our advanced technology, there’s less poking and probing than there used to be;

o   The EMS AIRFLOW uses powder to painlessly remove plaque and stains;

o   We only need to use the ultrasonic scaler for a much shorter time than before the EMS AIRFLOW arrived;

o   We have ‘happy gas’ (nitrous oxide) to help children with dental anxiety relax;

o   We know that the dentist can make people of all ages anxious, so don’t feel embarrassed about telling us that (so we can try even harder to reduce your level of anxiety).

There’s no time like the present

Why not book today for the whole family?

Just use our simple online appointment booking interface or call 9808 0207 if you would like to talk to someone first.

We’d love to get you in before we close for the Christmas-New Year break on Christmas Eve (we’ll be working until 1pm on December 24th).

After all, you might enjoy the festive season even more knowing your teeth have been looked at.

But, if you can’t make it before Christmas, we’ll be back at work from Monday, January 10th, so get the kids checked before they go back to school.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the MDC team
