We can help with your dental anxiety, too

Imagine if there was a way to make going to the dentist fun! We’d be all for that, but we have to concede we haven’t quite figured it out yet.

What we have been able to do, though, is make a visit to the dentist much less stressful and much more pleasant than it used to be some time ago.

That’s partly because we’re known for our gentle approach … but also because advances in technology have allowed us to treat patients more effectively with less poking and probing, while also reducing the time you need to sit in the big chair!

We know that coming to see us can make some people anxious, so please don’t feel embarrassed about telling us that. It’s understandable and we will always try to reduce your level of anxiety.

Of course, that’s particularly important with children, because we want to encourage good dental habits for life, and that includes seeing a dentist regularly.

A little time and effort for a big benefit

Six-monthly visits to the dentist are not everyone’s favourite thing but we hope that most people understand that the upside of keeping up this regular part of your oral health regimen is considerable (and the downside of failing to do so can be both painful and expensive).

The key point is that coming in regularly for a check-up and professional tooth cleaning is so important that we do whatever we can to make it easy for you … and we’ve just ‘levelled up’!

Our professional cleaning just got better

The great news is that we have a new piece of state-of-the-art equipment to help with the scale and clean for patients with heavy stains.

It’s called an EMS AIRFLOW, and it uses food-grade/medical-grade powder to painlessly remove plaque and stains.

With warm water, air, and some special powder, it’s like giving your teeth a spa treatment!

And did we mention that it’s painless?!

We still need to use the ultrasonic scaler – the pointy thing that makes a squeaky noise – but for a much shorter time thanks to the new machine.

You can also get happy again

During lockdown, with limited treatments, we had to go without our supply of happy gas.

But now we’ve got the gas back for children with dental anxiety. Of course, it helps them relax, while also reducing their sensitivity and inducing a state of euphoria (heightened pleasure).

We know that children who have had the gas previously might find it hard to go without.

You can read more about nitrous oxide in this blog post: How happy gas helps kids at the dentist.
